History

The Arizona Healthcare Leadership Academy, an Arizona-grown program, has provided leadership and management training to almost 200 front-line managers and supervisors from over 20 hospitals and healthcare facilities across Arizona.

Started in May 2004 by a partnership among The University Of Arizona College Of Nursing, the Eller College of Management, and the Arizona Nurses Association, the Academy has offered programs in Tucson, Phoenix, Sierra Vista, Flagstaff and Casa Grande.

The Academy was launched with start-up funding from the Arizona Hospital Association Campaign for Caring.

The eight course modules in the current Tier I Academy program were developed with input from members of the Campaign for Caring's Commitment, Passion, and Rededication Committee; the Arizona Organization of Nurse Executives; and hospital human resources executives from the Tucson area.

The Academy has now launched Tier II, and recently launched a Director's Only program.
